Iranian foreign minister visits Syria to address significant bilateral matters and cooperation

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian has embarked on a diplomatic mission, arriving in Damascus, Syria, to engage in discussions with the country’s authorities. Leading a politico-parliamentary delegation, Amir-Abdollahian’s visit to Syria follows his recent stop in Muscat, Oman, as part of a regional tour.

During his time in Damascus, the Iranian foreign minister is slated to address various topics, including bilateral relations between Iran and Syria and the prevailing regional dynamics. Of particular concern is the ongoing Israeli aggression against the people of Palestine, notably in the Gaza Strip. The discussions are expected to encompass strategies for countering these actions and ensuring the stability of the region.

The timing of Amir-Abdollahian’s visit to Syria is significant, coming shortly after a terrorist attack on the Consular Section of the Iranian Embassy in Damascus, perpetrated by Israel. This attack resulted in the tragic loss of seven Iranian lives, including high-ranking officials from Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Quds Force. The visit underscores Iran’s unwavering commitment to addressing regional security challenges and standing in solidarity with its allies in the face of external threats.

Prior to his arrival in Damascus, Amir-Abdollahian conducted discussions in Muscat, Oman, where he met with Omani Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Al-Busaidi and Mohammed Abdulsalam, a senior representative of Yemen’s National Salvation Government. The talks centered on enhancing Tehran-Muscat relations, particularly in the context of ongoing negotiations surrounding the removal of sanctions. Additionally, the parties exchanged views on the latest developments in the region, emphasizing the need to address the continuous acts of aggression committed by Israel against Palestinians.

In a statement shared on his official social media account, the Iranian foreign minister highlighted the importance of collaboration between Iran and Oman in navigating regional challenges. Furthermore, he emphasized the imperative of taking decisive measures to deter further Zionist aggression and uphold the rights of Palestinians.

Overall, Amir-Abdollahian’s diplomatic engagements in Syria and Oman underscore Iran’s commitment to fostering regional stability, strengthening alliances, and addressing pressing issues affecting the Middle East.
