Karachi(CNI NEWS) at Jinnah International Airport in Karachi, the Airport Security Forces (ASF) made a significant arrest. A passenger intending to travel to Iran was apprehended, and upon scanning his baggage, a startling discovery was made: 45 Pakistani passports were found in his possession.
The ASF spokesperson confirmed the incident, stating that the discovery was made during routine baggage scanning at the Jinnah Terminal. The individual, identified as Adnan, failed to provide a satisfactory explanation regarding the presence of such a large number of passports, especially belonging to unrelated persons.
Following the discovery, both the passenger and the recovered passports were promptly handed over to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) for further investigation.
It was revealed that the passenger was allegedly carrying 45 Pakistani passports, intended for various individuals to facilitate their travel through Iran to Dubai. The motives behind this unusual possession remain unclear and are subject to investigation by the authorities.
This incident adds to a series of recent security breaches and thwarted illegal activities at Karachi Airport. Earlier this year, the ASF intercepted a money laundering attempt, seizing a substantial amount of foreign currency and gold jewelry from a passenger bound for Bangkok. Similarly, Pakistan Customs officials intercepted another smuggling attempt, recovering over $23,000 in foreign currency from a passenger at Jinnah International Airport.
These incidents underscore the vigilance and effectiveness of security measures in place at Karachi Airport, aimed at safeguarding against various forms of illicit activities and ensuring the safety and security of passengers and the integrity of the airport operations.
